Amanda Shaver: 1) My name is Amanda Shaver and I will be certified in grades 8-12 to teach English and Language Arts. I chose to become a teacher because I believe everyone should be given the opportunity to learn and to have someone believe in them every step of the way. I want all my students to believe in themselves and set goals for themselves they can work to attain. I chose English as my content area because English is one subject that everyone will truly use outside of school. Everyone needs to be able to write well and read and be able to comprehend that reading in almost every job a student may end up having after graduation. And that is my goal: that every student I teach will end up graduating and given the chance to go to college.
